Children's Literature plays a crucial role in the development of the child. Use examples from three
stories studied in this course to discuss the four (4) developmental stages in children, that is;
The child's language development,
The child's cognitive development,
The child's personality development, and
The child's social development.

With close reference to the text, analyse the role played by the pangolin and the Game Park in
Kangira's The Bundle of Firewood.

Write an essay in which you discuss any FIVEthemes from the text Robinson Crusoe and explain
how they are related to post-colonial children's literature in Africa.

"Conflict in literature is the central struggle between characters or competing forces, such as man
against nature, society, or himself. The conflict is introduced in the exposition, or the beginning
of the story, and sets the stage for future events. Some stories contain more than one conflict,
but there's usually an underlying primary struggle that the protagonist or protagonists must
address" (Tucker, 2023}.
In relation to the above quotation, discuss conflict and its role in driving the plot in children's
literature. Use relevant examples from the fairytales you have studied in this course.
