SECTIONA: COMPULSORY
Question 1
Namibia's current (2024/2025) budget deficit stands at N$6.5 billion and is predicted
to grow to N$8.9 billion, in view of lack of economic diversification and growing
economic complexities. This situation is unsustainable in the medium to long terms.
The concern is that the deficit will have to be financed from alternative sources of
income. Review the implications of this situation on Namibia's development agenda.
In addition, provide applicable recommendations to address the current deficit
problem.

SECTIONB: CHOOSEONE OF THE TWO QUESTIONS
Question 2
Modern day development can label societies as backward and traditional, whose
cultural values, norms and ways are impediments to growth and progress. This
perception implies that these backward societies need external assistance in one way
or the other. Using a practical example, what are the implications of such a view on the
development of Africa?
[50)
Question 3
The techno-centric view is one of the theories of sustainable development. It
emphasises the maximum exploitation and utilisation of national resources to attain
full industrialisation. This view does not give attention to the ethical issues for
environmental preservation and climate action. Analyse the impact of this view on
socio-economic development and recommend an appropriate approach to sustainable
development.
