Indicate whether the following statements are true or false. No motivation is required.
1.1 Media landscapes refer to the overall environment in which there are different types of
media platforms and interactions including how information is produced, distributed and
consumed across multiple platforms and channels.
1.2 The seniority of the presiding officer is one of the factors that determine the jurisdiction of a
court.
1.3 To date, there are more than 25 international treaties on IP administered by WIPO.

Combatting of Domestic Violence Act 4 of 2003
[15 Marks]
Domestic Violence Act 4 of 2003 was enacted with an aim of combating domestic violence by
providing remedies such as issuing of protective orders, assistance for victims, criminal provisions
and educational campaigns. The Namibian Police Force recorded 4 814 gender-based violence
(GBV) cases countrywide during the 2023/24 financial year while a total of 8076 GBV cases were
recorded in 2023 and 2024 combined.
In view of above statistics, do you think the Act has helped reduce GBV cases? If yes, give 3
examples to support your answer. If not, give three examples to support your answer (9 marks).
