1. Examine the concept "Sustainable Futures"

2. Education is seen as the game changer for sustainable development. As a TVET practitioner,
Describe how would you integrate sustainability issues in the written curriculum, teaching and
learning of your trade?

3. In Namibia, the mining and quarrying sector has been the leading sector of the primary
industry contributing more to the GDP.

(a) Explain the effects of mining activities on environmental sustainability
(b) Suggest strategies to be employed to ensure sustainable mining
4. Social sustainability is about the wellbeing of people. Analyse how social inequalities and
discrimination affect development and suggest strategies to mitigate these social ills. [25)
5. Most Namibian ethnic groups rely on wood to meet their basic needs viz shelter and cooking.
Discuss how the current generation can continue meeting these needs at the same time making
provision for future generation.

6. Consumerism drives economic growth. When people spend more on goods/services the
economy grows. There is increased production and employment which leads to more
consumption. The living standards of people are also bound to improve because of consumerism.
Discuss how this consumption pattern affect' the environment and suggest ways to minimise
those effects.
