not only create more jobs, income, and infrastructure, but also help their community become
fundamentally better and able to manage the change". Discuss what is meant by rural
community development.

a. Most rural households use a range of activities after the occurrence of natural disaster such as
drought as means of coping strategies. Outline nine of these coping strategies that are used. (9)
b. The Ministry of Urban and Rural development formulated the National Rural Development
Strategy- (NRDS) in 2013 that aims at dealing with complex rural issues. This strategy was based
on four different themes. Identify these four different themes as well as their respective
objectives as highlighted in the NRDS.
